Gnorman in Wellington!

These are very old and wise gnomes with gnorman.

The gnomes names are unpronounceable – Gmmflbt, Wzumpwsly, Smlepxznt and his brother Bglepxnt.

They don't like them being spelt incorrectly.
They were very interested in Gnorman's travels and took a lot of convincing that there actually is a world outside their huge garden.

There are about another dozen that I know of, but they were far too shy to meet Gnorman.

They said things like 'grvlneffinbllg' and erthenstynpt' when we asked them to join in for a photo.

Gnorman in Tauranga!

On Thursday morning I arrived in Tauranga and was delighted to find that Gnorma Jean arrived that afternoon, for a special Easter reunion arranged by our host, autumnwinds.

Friday and Saturday were spent catching up, and sightseeing – we even checked out the huge cruiser liner, Sapphire Princess, the biggest ship to call at New Zealand, as a possibility for our honeymoon! The surf at the ocean was a little rough for us wee people, so we went to the harbour, at Pilot Bay.

And we met the Mayor of Tauranga in a nice restaurant…

Saturday and Sunday it was all on – a house full of guests, and the 45th Annual Tauranga Jazz Festival where I met Bob Clarkson, the local MP, and we were special guests at the Telstra Clear promotion hospitality tent – rather fun, that! But AW wouldn’t let me drink, and she only had orange juice, too…..

I enjoyed one of the Jazz bands, Tauranga group Kokomo, who played cruisey bluesy music and Grant Bullott gave us a DVD, signed by all the band, for the auctions….

On Tuesday I bade farewell to my lovely Gnorma Jean for some time – she was off to Auckland to revel in TopRank’s blingbling, then she’s off for an extended tour of the USA, meeting celebrities. So sad to see her go, but so glad we had this time together – it was special.

Gnorman and Beatrice, a Cancer Society bear

I met the world-famous-on-Trade-Me Tauranga cat called Gordon, too – nice chap, consoled me, and cuddled me to his ample bosom – he was rather keen on the bell on my cap, too.

My last visit was with the charming and compassionate Peter Brown MP (New Zealand First Deputy Leader), and then… oh, dear! – I was back into my travelling compartment, to be transported down to Wellington.

Gnorman in New Plymouth

2/4/07 Gnorman was welcomed to New Plymouth city this morning and was delighted that Fastways depot was thoughtfully situated in Norma Lane.
With John Sutcliffe and Andy Gowland-Douglas of the New Plymouth branch of the cancer society he was welcomed by the mayor, Peter Tennant, at the civic centre and given honorary citizenship.
The press from the midweek interviewed him; he couldn't wipe that smile off his face!

He then toured the city, meeting our local M.P. the Honourable Harry Duynhoven at the windwand for a photo shoot, , before seeing Nodding Neddy at the port, (there could be a "spot Gnorman on the oil pump" competition) Paritutu rock, (the last vestige of a massive ancient volcano)Poets Bridge at Pukekura Park and Bashful, a neighbourhood gnome.
Mount Taranaki was also bashful behind a cloud, but Gnorman hopes to view him later today, his last chance before visiting Tauranga for an overdose of Easter goodies.

Thanks to local businesses and Taranaki artists for their support as well.

Gnorman dwarfed..(excuse the pun) by Paritutu, the cone remnant of a massive, ancient volcano.

Andy Gowland-Douglas holding Gnorman, and John Sutcliffe of the cancer society with Ana Souto on the beautiful coastal walkway.

Gnorman decided to cheat with a photo of Mt. Taranaki behind him, the actual mountain feeling bashful today.

Gnorman in Christchurch

Thursday night we attended a NZ film called Ruby and Rata, a special screening for Simon Barnett of More FM’s birthday. We were warned it would be a cheesy movie seeing as it stared Simon Barnett and Gary McCormick
Afterwards we got the journal signed by Simon…Gary snuck out the back, away from the crowds and lines.

Tuesday took him into More FM for photos with Si and Gary so Gary could sign the log book.

Took photos by the Avon and am sending Gnorman in the morning to New Plymouth

Sat 24th: Went on a tram ride through centre of the city and saw sites such as the Cathedral, the Challace and trams

Gnorman...better hide that goblet!
