Second installment of Gnorma Jean's overseas travel!

There's lots to see & do in Edinburgh, so spent more time seeing the sights.

Gnorma Jean likes to wander off & ends up in interesting places.

Luckily this wasn't the cannon that is fired at 1 o'clock every day.

Also, no amount of bribing would get her to divulge what a Scotsman does or doesn't wear under his kilt.

As well as interesting places, Gnorma Jean ended up meeting some interesting local wild life - luckily the highland cow didn't find her to his liking, so she didn't come to a sticky end.

She disappeared early one morning when we were at Loch Ness and was the only one on the trip to catch sight of a "Nessie" .....
...we still had no luck while out on Loch Ness that night, though enjoyed the sunset

Had a wakeful night at Carbisdale Castle as it's supposed to be haunted and Gnorma Jean doesn't like ghosts only gnomes!

As if it wasn't enough to visit Scotland & England, Gnorma Jean had a try at visiting Hogwarts but couldn't quite get through the barrier.

Final stop of the trip was Singapore, Gnorma Jean was a little overwhelmed by the size of the Merlion, so didn't have her photo taken with him.

She's now having a bit of peace & quiet until the next part of her journey.

Gnorma Jean in England!

Gnorma Jean arrived safely in Christchurch for a few days rest before heading off to the UK.

A word of warning to whoever may travel with Gnorma Jean, it's very deceptive what she can carry with her!

She stuck with the "no alcohol" on the plane but enjoyed all the food & entertainment on offer.

Met up with some fellow New Zealanders, also traveling to the UK

Transit stop in Singapore provided an opportunity to walk around & stretch our legs after a 12 hour flight.

Despite all the food served on the plane, Gnorma Jean was peckish & was found eyeing up some local food.

Arrived in London & straight into sightseeing - found someone who shares her love of pink

The Queen was fortunately at home but only Gnorma Jean was invited for morning tea.

Gnorma Jean also had the opportunity to meet Norma Jean!

Travelled up to Scotland by train. Once again straight into the sightseeing

Gnorma Jean really enjoyed the Edinburgh Tattoo and got into the spirit of the occasion by dressing appropriately
Further instalment to come...

Gnorman In Oamaru!

Gnormans first couple of day were spent couped up in his can, due to bad weather. Finally he broke free into Oamaru and visited the sites.

First stop was to Meet the mayor of Waitaki district Alan Mclay, where he was presented with a beautiful book to be part of the final auction.

Next It was on to visit the Little blue Penguin viewing area(where he managed to escape with a little toy penguin), and on to the Historic part of Oamaru for a good look around and meet up with the locals.

One of his final days in Oamaru saw the first bit of trouble surrounding his travels... Not realising Gnorman had no license, I let him borrow the jeep for a drive into town...

It wasn't long till the long arm of the law intervened, and a lot of sweet talking later, we got off all the tickets!

Over all he had a great stay in Oamaru, and carries a lot of best wishes from everyone he met.

Gnorman in Paeroa!

LOL- He is so cute. Everything is safely here.
Gnorman has arrived with Mr. Raker. He says he is very happy to be stationary for awhile as he says he was slightly car sick on his long journey here.

Gnorman has rested with some antiques and says wow, he has never seen so much old stuff in one place before. LOL.

Gnorman has met some new friends but was a little shy to begin with as he thought they looked a bit funny? But once he got to know them he got on really well.

Gnorman is excited about seeing outdoors tomorrow. He says he can hear cows and he thinks pigs so he is anxious to check out the source of the noises.
As it is time for his hosts to have dinner, Gnorman included of course, we will add more information tomorrow.
Gnorman is calling Mum tonight so that will be fun.

Day 2- Gnorman has a relaxing time around a country property. The photos show him relaxing as he enjoys the scenery.

Gnorman with jasper rocks.

The L&P bottles are unopened and are Limited Edition ones that were released in Paeroa ONLY. They are being donated for the big Auction.

The Kauri gum was found in the hills around Hikutaia is hundreds of years old and is also being donated to the auction. One Acre Wood in Hikutaia is the donator.(That's my shop)

Okkies, I am off now taking Gnorman into the bush to look for Jasper and Gold!!
Gnorman visited all around Paeroa and then went on to Thames where he met with a reporter for the Hauraki Herald and the owner of Pak N Save Thames.

Gnorman ran out of time to see more, and is tucked up in bed, sound asleep now.
It has been a hectic day for us trying to keep up with the little fellow.

Gnorman in Wellington!

These are very old and wise gnomes with gnorman.

The gnomes names are unpronounceable – Gmmflbt, Wzumpwsly, Smlepxznt and his brother Bglepxnt.

They don't like them being spelt incorrectly.
They were very interested in Gnorman's travels and took a lot of convincing that there actually is a world outside their huge garden.

There are about another dozen that I know of, but they were far too shy to meet Gnorman.

They said things like 'grvlneffinbllg' and erthenstynpt' when we asked them to join in for a photo.

Gnorman in Tauranga!

On Thursday morning I arrived in Tauranga and was delighted to find that Gnorma Jean arrived that afternoon, for a special Easter reunion arranged by our host, autumnwinds.

Friday and Saturday were spent catching up, and sightseeing – we even checked out the huge cruiser liner, Sapphire Princess, the biggest ship to call at New Zealand, as a possibility for our honeymoon! The surf at the ocean was a little rough for us wee people, so we went to the harbour, at Pilot Bay.

And we met the Mayor of Tauranga in a nice restaurant…

Saturday and Sunday it was all on – a house full of guests, and the 45th Annual Tauranga Jazz Festival where I met Bob Clarkson, the local MP, and we were special guests at the Telstra Clear promotion hospitality tent – rather fun, that! But AW wouldn’t let me drink, and she only had orange juice, too…..

I enjoyed one of the Jazz bands, Tauranga group Kokomo, who played cruisey bluesy music and Grant Bullott gave us a DVD, signed by all the band, for the auctions….

On Tuesday I bade farewell to my lovely Gnorma Jean for some time – she was off to Auckland to revel in TopRank’s blingbling, then she’s off for an extended tour of the USA, meeting celebrities. So sad to see her go, but so glad we had this time together – it was special.

Gnorman and Beatrice, a Cancer Society bear

I met the world-famous-on-Trade-Me Tauranga cat called Gordon, too – nice chap, consoled me, and cuddled me to his ample bosom – he was rather keen on the bell on my cap, too.

My last visit was with the charming and compassionate Peter Brown MP (New Zealand First Deputy Leader), and then… oh, dear! – I was back into my travelling compartment, to be transported down to Wellington.
